Attack of the big red bins

The benefit of the big blue recycling bins and a need to reduce waste pickup costs led to Pottstown's recent approval of a contract with J.P. Mascaro that reduces trash pickup to one day a week and the issuance of big red bins to replace the average garbage can.
Not everyone is happy about having to struggle with the giant trash totes.

Giving warmth to those in need

The issue of homelessness is once again being raised in Pottstown where circumstances seem to be worse than ever before for those without shelter. A recent law forbiding camping on borough property has spurred community groups to work toward creating a permanent homeless shelter for those in need.
